About The Claws
The Capricorn Claws participate in the only truly state competition for players in the Open division, the Tier 2 Competition. This competition is part of the highest elite level open Netball competition in Queensland and includes 12 regional teams from the Gold Coast to the Marlin Coast. This year is the third year that this competition has been all inclusive and the Capricorn Region have been instrumental in the competition’s development, lobbying Netball Queensland over the past fifteen years for a competition that allows regional players the opportunity to play against the south-east corner.

There are fifteen talented netballers in the 2010 squad from Rockhampton, Emerald, Blackwater & Gladstone.
The vast expanse of our region means that players are required to travel significant distances at large additional expenses to the team. For the past four years, the Claws have been proudly supported by QGESS Pty Ltd (Queensland Geological, Engineering & Surveying Services). Last year, we created www.capclaws.com.au in an effort to promote the Capricorn Claws in the Central Queensland region, amongst both businesses and homes. We hope to increase our sponsor network in 2010 and continue, strengthen and build on these partnerships through into 2011 and beyond.
Being a Claw is not only about playing netball. Being a Claw is about just that… C…L…A…W…S

We have a motto within our squad – “take one for the team”! Netball is a team sport. According to Wikipedia, Netball has the highest level of participation of any sport in Australia! But you don’t go out there for yourself or to settle your own agenda. When we step out on the court in our Claws uniform (proud as punch) we embody everything that it is to be a Claw – Consistency, Loyalty, Accountability, Will & Success. We bring an intensity to every training session and every game that rivals no other. We train with passion, determination, belief, strength and we demand the highest results from ourselves and our squad. Being a Claw is no Sunday stroll, but the rewards we get from every training – the fitness, the friendship, the camaraderie, the skills; and then being able to put that into a game situation and come away with the win…what better reward is there than that?
We are fierce contenders for the 2010 season, we know it – and the other teams soon will…
THE CLAWS ARE OUT!
